Not everyone who consults a Psychologist will have a psychological diagnosis. Some people seek help because they are looking for support to confront challenging situations, make difficult decisions, gain clarity or prepare for / adjust to significant changes at home, work or in their relationships.

An increasing number of individuals are seeking support for burnout, an occupational syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress. This can lead to the development of debilitating symptoms shared with conditions like depression and anxiety.

Adults and teenagers aged 15 years and above can be seen at the practice.

What You Can Expect
Claire is an experienced Psychologist providing empathetic, non-judgmental and effective psychological care. With a warm and collaborative approach, she offers a safe supportive space to explore thoughts and emotions, build coping skills, grow resilience and develop agency over one’s life, with the goal of returning to balance.

The number of sessions required varies from person to person and is influenced by a number of factors. At the beginning of treatment, once an assessment has been conducted, a plan will be formulated and shared with you, outlining the anticipated approach to treatment. This will be reviewed periodically to assess progress towards treatment goals.

How To Access Treatment
Services can be accessed in a couple of different ways:

a) General Practitioner referral - discuss with your doctor whether you would be eligible for a mental health treatment plan. If you have a diagnosed mental health disorder, Medicare provides a rebate for up to 10 individual sessions of treatment each calendar year. Medicare currently rebates $96.65, leaving an out of pocket cost of $113.35 per session.

b) Self-referral - without a G.P. referral you will be considered a private patient. Most private health funds provide rebates towards the cost of psychological treatment, up to an annual limit. Check your policy to understand your coverage and with the practice to confirm we are registered as a provider with your health fund.

Please feel free to contact Your Mind in Balance with any questions or to request a complimentary 15-minute exploratory call to see if Claire might be the right therapist for you.
